At the time of writing this blog the world is going through a time of pain, loss, turmoil, fear and hardship with the Covid-19 virus affecting every country, paralyzing our health systems and crippling our financial and business sectors. It seems odd to pretend that life goes on as normal and that we are not facing a pandemic which will alter the course of history.
The final four posts in this section of The Firdaria Diaries examines the ages from sixty years old to seventy one years of age. If you are now moving through these years, then you are at the age boundary of those most likely to be threatened by the virus, and will currently be self-isolating in order to protect yourselves and your loved ones. In these circumstances it is unlikely that these next four posts will have little relevance to your life in this present-day situation.
But this time will come to an end and our lives will get back to some level of normality although we can’t foresee what the long-term effects will be, or how we will move forward from this pivotal time in history. So I write this blog – and the next three – with the hope that we survive, and that we support each other and care for those who are struggling to return to their former lives.
Now, more than ever, kindness can be our greatest human trait, and it is a trait that needs to be exercised daily. By individuals, by families, friends, loved ones, by workmates, strangers, old, young, and by governments and countries across this fragile planet.

Profections: Moving Forward Through the Houses
60 years old : FIRST HOUSE
Each time we return to the Ascendant we find ourselves re-assessing our lives and making major decisions on the labels we wear (both consciously and unconsciously), how we define ourselves and our environment, and how we want the next few years to progress in our favour.
The first house signifies your attitude and appearance in this world so physical restrictions can hamper you this year. These restrictions can be imposed by an external force and any efforts you make to change an established pattern or move forward can be frustrated or slowed down by something outside of your control. But the restrictions can also be internalised through your own fear of change, so health issues can mask emotional concerns through your body’s reluctance to move into the unknown.
An assessment of your physical health and strength may be necessary during this year as the first house describes our body’s ability to remain strong, flexible and resilient to the changes that are occurring in the environment which surrounds us. The planet which rules your Ascendant may be sorely tested during a year when you are also moving into a new decade, and a close examination of the Firdaria lord will help to determine whether any health concerns are a temporary distraction, or an on-going deterioration that requires major changes to your lifestyle.
61 years old : SECOND HOUSE
The second house signifies your wealth and the fine balance between money in and money out can be a constant source of worry throughout the next year. It may be that the changes you began in the previous year have monetary implications right now, and you may need to reassess if you can actually afford a new lifestyle. A change in circumstances in your life often rocks the boat financially and you may have to curb your spending habits or look at ways to increase your income in order to accommodate your altered situation.
63 years old : THIRD HOUSE
If the previous year has created a change in ready cash you may be looking to downsize and find a new area in which to live. If the area is one that is completely new to you, it may be that this year is about becoming comfortable in your new surroundings or making an effort to familiarize yourself with the faces who welcome you into their territory.
Third house is concerned with how we communicatewith the world around us. For many people the internet has opened up a whole new world of networking for the dual purpose of work and social commitments. This year may find you spending a large amount of time ‘broadcasting’ whether for knowledge on career advancement or to pursue friendships, personal interests or skills. Whatever the reason it means you are communicating with groups or individuals from your own city or country or with others from around the world.
Third house also connects us to our world through the relationship we share with our siblings as we learn many life skills from interacting with our brothers or sisters. For this reason, a third house year can indicate a strong involvement with a particular sibling and depending on the planet ruling the third house, or any planets located in third, this relationship might waver between being one of support, or a state of constant agitation and conflict.

Profections Summary for 60: 61: 62 years of age
Firdaria: Time Portions Belonging to the Planets
Jupiter and Mercury continue as the major Firdaria lords through these first three years of the sixties. During this time Jupiter’s diurnal Firdaria will have two sub-lords, the Moon and Saturn, whilst those born during the night-time hours will see Mercury’s time divided between the Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter.

Daytime Births 60 – 62 years of age
DAYTIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday : 60 years
Major Long-term Lord: JUPITER (Years)
Minor Short-term Lord: MOON (Months)
Turning sixty is a big deal. Especially when it begins a new twelve year cycle marked in two very different ways; firstly, by profection which moves sign by sign through the twelve divisions of the chart, and secondly, through the beginning of a new Jupiter cycle which also lasts a dozen years.
Saturn has had its own return a couple of years earlier and much was made of it in the previous blog. Jupiter’s returns happen more frequently and may not be as earth-shattering as Saturn’s two revisits at twenty eight and fifty seven, but for different reasons, they are still noteworthy.
When Jupiter returns to its natal position we find ourselves in something of a liminal state whereby we stand at a threshold – struggling to incorporate the knowledge from the previous Jupiter cycle – at the same time as we are eagerly searching for something new to introduce into our lives. These portals into a new way of life appear every twelve years, whether from the restarting of the houses at the Ascendant, or from the commencement of a new Jupiter cycle. They serve as timely reminders that we can change old patterns if we choose to do so, and to reinvent our philosophies, attitudes, ideas on our interpretation of the physical and metaphysical realms which surround us.
With Jupiter continuing to be the major Firdaria lord for day-timers, this is one of those years that can become transitional in our development; not just because it begins a new decade, but because so many other influences are at work at this time.
The Moon is the short-term Firdaria lord at sixty and emotions are likely to be running high at this time. Sorting through one’s emotional highs and lows, one’s responses to not only loved ones – partners, parents, children, friends, other family members – at the same time as passing through and adapting to this in-between stage is never easy.
If you know the condition and placement of your Moon in your natal chart then this is a year to examine whether it is a case of “the heart wants what the heart wants”. Or, if you don’t know what the heart wants, and instead Jupiter is just grabbing at straws by directing the Moon to attach from one thing to another while it works out through the list of what it is that you might possibly want in the future.

DAYTIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 61 years
Long-term Lord: JUPITER
Short-term Lord: MOON
Second house is a house that often creates stress and worry for an individual’s peace of mind. The combination of Jupiter with the Moon is a not always a good money manager as spending money on pure impulse is likely to deplete your savings if you are not careful.
You may find that sudden windfalls or money from inheritances are giving you a better cash flow than usual but be careful, as Saturn always follows the Moon in the Chaldean Order and four months into this year, Saturn will be asking you to account for any frivolous over-spending.

Short-term Lord Changes from MOON to SATURN
Long-term Lord: JUPITER
NEW Short-term Lord: SATURN
Now the Moon has stepped aside and Saturn has taken its place as the new short-term Firdaria lord. Saturn is Jupiter’s final participant in its twelve year Firdaria which began at age fifty one and ends when you celebrate your birthday at sixty three years of age. Unfortunately, Saturn will finalise Jupiter’s long-term period with a difficult and vexatious time as Jupiter does not share the same agreeable relationship with Saturn that it did with some of the previous planets. Jupiter is in its worse state (fall) in Saturn’s sign of Capricorn and this fact automatically creates tension between what the ancients called ‘The Greater Benefic’ (Jupiter) and ‘The Greater Malefic’ (Saturn).
This tension is likely to follow through by straining your finances and for the next eight months or so, you are going to be vicariously rocketed between profits and losses as Jupiter tries to expand your wealth, and encourage your spending, and Saturn restricts your income, or doubles your debt.

DAYTIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 62 years
Long-term Lord: JUPITER
Short-term Lord: SATURN
Third house is usually an improvement on the second house profection and hopefully you will be looking at solutions to stabilize the ups-and-downs of your fiscal problems. Normally there is a bit of a health advantage by moving to the third house as the first house of the body is well-connected to the third house which shows the body’s ability to adapt and change through its fine and gross motor skills.
However, Saturn can throw a spanner in the works when it becomes the sub-period Firdaria lord and there is a focus on the body through one of the houses. Saturn is a planet of physicality and it uses so many ailments to restrict physical mobility, often causing voluntary confinement if the individual fears that pain will escalate, or cause greater damage, if movement continues.
Saturn is the planet that presides over the solid parts of our skeletal system – bones, joints and discs – parts of our body that connect and move when our brain sends a stimulus through the central nervous system. Added to this is the fact that Saturn’s natural temperament leans towards the cold and dry qualities and unfortunately, as we age, most of us slow down as muscles begin to waste, joints begin to swell, and bones become more brittle. Physical exercise programs become absolutely essential at this age in order to keep our third house movements going but it is a constant battle as Saturn’s ability to make us anxious about twinges, aches and tightness means we tend to slow down or stop completely, in order to protect our bodies.
Aside from health concerns, there is a silver lining to Saturn’s period and this has to do with the combination of Saturn being directed by its major lord, Jupiter. This year is Jupiter’s final year in its twelve year period and time is running out if you have started an ambitious project during Jupiter’s reign. Saturn, as the lord of Time, understands Jupiter’s urgency to make a last moment dash towards success and has the determination to refocus, do the necessary hard work, and complete the task to ‘bring it home’ for Jupiter. Saturn’s work ethic is excellent so long as it fully comprehends its mission – provided Jupiter doesn’t shift the goal posts – and Saturn is more than willing to make the effort to finish what another planet in an earlier sub-period began with gusto under Jupiter’s somewhat enthusiastic supervision.

Night Births 60 – 62 years of age
NIGHT BIRTH – Age at Birthday : 60 years
Major Long-term Lord: MERCURY (Years)
Minor Short-term Lord: MOON (Months)
Welcome to your 60s! Mercury has been your major Firdaria lord for the past three years and will continue in its role through the next ten years that marks your sixties.
Communication, intellect, memory, opinions, marketing and business pursuits are still your hot topics but each one of Mercury’s sub-lords will flavour the things you talk and think about during their own twenty two month period.
For two thirds of this year the Moon will continue to take up your time and energy as you sort through family issues and navigate your emotional landscape. This is your year of new beginnings – a new cycle from Jupiter and a return to the first house – so it is fitting that for most of the year you can use your major luminary, the Moon, to sort through some of your most intense preoccupations. This is very much a string of ‘follow your heart’ moments as you delve into what excites you and what you think will ignite your passions in the next twelve years.
Saturn is coming up on the horizon during the latter part of this year and it will be in charge of timelines, planning and the possible execution of your dreams. Don’t waste what is left of the Moon’s allotted time – get passionate, push your dreams to their absolute outer limits, and tell everyone you meet that you have exciting new plans for your future.
Mercury is a natural broadcaster of ideas, concepts and potentials so don’t hide your thoughts away or contain your excitement just because you worry that others will think you ‘odd’. Put it out there and maybe one or two of them will understand, and help you to manifest your ideas into something real and tangible in the future. It doesn’t matter which ones do and which don’t come true. The Moon is for loving the dream, not making it happen. Leave that job to the remaining sub-lords of Mercury’s Firdaria.

Short-term Lord Changes from MOON to SATURN
Long-term Lord: MERCURY
NEW Short-term Lord: SATURN
Now Saturn takes the Moon’s place and between them Mercury and Saturn start to plan how some, if not all, of the Moon’s visions can come to fruition. There are still four months of the year to go and the focus on physical strength may be hampered if Saturn is restricting your movements and signalling some health issues as you are still in a first house year.
Your enthusiasm for change and new direction may be a little dampened by the appearance of Saturn who is likely to be bringing its own reality check on your plans. Instead of being downcast at the number of obstacles that have suddenly appeared, use your major Firdaria lord, Mercury, to assess the situation and work out how to proceed from here. Saturn is not put there to stop you, but it will test your resolve, and it will question your commitment to the task at hand.

NIGHT BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 61 years
Long-term Lord: MERCURY
Short-term Lord: SATURN
At the next birthday the focus shifts to the second house and Saturn is rarely a good companion for times of abundance or financial laxity. Saturn pulls in the purse strings and under the constraints of a combined Mercury and Saturn Firdaria you may find yourself consulting a financial or legal advisor to help get you through a tough year, or to plan for security in the years ahead.
Delays, postponements and unexpected expenditure are all indicators of Saturn’s ability to challenge us and make us ask, Do I really want to go down this path? Luckily Mercury is very wily and inventive, and so long as you are not allowing Saturn to introduce negativity or despair into your thinking patterns, then circumstances should improve with a new house focus, and a new sub-lord in the form of Jupiter in the coming year.
***
NIGHT BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 62 years
Long-term Lord: MERCURY
Short-term Lord: SATURN
The first half of the year is still under Saturn’s control so even though the house focus has moved to a lighter area, there is still work to be done in planning and time management if you want your schemes to move from dreams to reality.
Serious discussions with others of a third house nature – siblings, peers, neighbours or local planners or developers – all of these are included in the mix and can help to clarify some of the obstacles that are holding you back on a project. Mercury may send Saturn out on errands to search for new information or to network with those in authority, but be clear about what it is you want to achieve from these discussions or new knowledge.
Mercury is a bit of a time waster; hours on the internet going from one rabbit hole to another until you don’t know where you started, or why you began the search in the first place. But this will not please Saturn who knows that time is precious, and once wasted, the clock cannot be rewound and Saturn’s most valuable commodity cannot be used again. Stay focused and precise and you can get through a large amount of work to prepare for Jupiter’s up-coming term.
62 years and 7 months
Short-term Lord Changes from SATURN to JUPITER
Long-term Lord: MERCURY
NEW Short-term Lord: JUPITER
Finally Saturn’s stretch ends towards the middle of the year and the planet next in line is Jupiter who combines with Mercury for the next twenty months. These two planets can get on each other’s nerves, but at least they do not carry the heavy load that Saturn has imposed during the past two years.
Jupiter’s aim is to shoot arrows in every direction in the hope that something ‘sticks’ and this can be frustrating for Mercury who is more single-minded in what it hopes to achieve at this time in life. Mercury may get frustrated with Saturn’s pedantic need to ‘dot the i’s and cross the t’s’ but at least it knows that the former lord’s slow and steady pace achieves results, and this is not always the case for Jupiter’s period where everything is possible, but nothing actually gets done.
That being said, Jupiter may restore confidence and improve finances at the start of its term so if you have been living under a dark cloud during Saturn’s sub-period, glimmers of light can pick you up and hopefully get you moving again in what you believe to be ‘the right direction’.
By profection you are still experiencing a third house year so if you need to make amends for some harsh words, or apologise for a cruel or hurtful remarks made during Saturn’s spell then this could be your chance to redeem yourself. Jupiter is not a planet that wants to spend its time over past grievances and missed opportunities. Instead it looks to growth, to take full advantage of any potentials, and if you have lost your way a bit through Saturn’s natural barriers of fear or distrust, then the next couple of years may reinstate your faith in human nature.
The third house is about your comfort in your local community so if you have been isolating yourself during Saturn’s interval then this is a good time to get involved in local planning, development or politics and make a difference.
