This is the final piece in the puzzle that attempts to describe Firdaria and Profections in a practical, usable fashion and to relate them to an adult’s lifespan from eighteen to seventy two years of age. This is not to say that life will end at seventy two – far from it in our modern age – especially if you are lucky enough to be in a place of good hygiene practices, sound medical institutions, and access to a healthy diet and a regular exercise regime.
But the beginning of the seventh turn around the wheel at seventy two, and the ‘break period’ in both Diurnal and Nocturnal Firdaria when the Nodes take over, seems to be an appropriate time to call it quits and start concentrating on the next phase of The Firdaria Diaries.
So far as profection is concerned, the profected Ascendant has now moved forward at the ages of sixty nine, seventy and seventy one to focus on the last three houses in a set of twelve.
Most houses have seen four turns of the wheel, and three of the houses – seventh, eighth and ninth – have seen a fifth term simply because this is where we started the journey at the age of eighteen. Throughout these blogs, nineteen in total, we have looked at the possibilities of how we might combine two very old predictive techniques from earlier sources, divergent languages, and different periods of time in astrology’s history.
Where to from here?
Phase One of The Firdaria Diaries has been about explaining the chronological sequence of the various Firdaria periods of both long-term (major lords) and short-term (minor lords) in the Chaldean Order of the Planets. Hopefully if you have been dipping in and out of this series over the past few months you will have noticed one important thing.
That is, the difference between being born during the day, or emerging from the womb in the night-time hours, was a very, very big deal for ancient astrologers. I would be tempted to say that they believed the effect on the individual’s body, their experiences in life, and in fact their very psyche (or soul), was hugely affected by whether the warmth of the sun, or the shadows of the moon, cast their light over the newborn’s crib.
Day or night birth plays a much smaller role in the Profection (literally, forward movement) through the twelve houses at a rate of one house or sign per year. But the combination of the two methods gives enormous insight into how an individual perceives their life to be going at any one year in time. Approaching the adult lifespan in manageable three year blocks gave me the opportunity to slow down the process of a complicated system (Firdaria) that often overwhelms any astrologer trying to relate it to their client’s life. Profection may or may not be directly companionable with Firdaria, but at least it sticks to the birthday rule and as the yearly clock turns over, so too does a new house and fresh focus point present itself for examination.
In contrast to profection, Firdaria takes chunks of years of different durations and divides them by the very awkward prime number of seven, so that each planet can express itself or interpret the time using its own significations and conditions in the chart, but always under the supervision of the long-term Firdaria lord. This often leads to messy handovers at unusual times during the year and the movement from one sub-lord to the next can be confusing, and a great deal of work, especially if you lack the computer programs which will do these calculations for you.
If you have been patiently working through the theory of Phase One and wondering how it might relate to your own chart and life experiences, then you deserve to get to Phase Two of the Firdaria Diaries as this is where the fun starts! Natal charts, at last! Hurrah!!
Now we go back to the beginning and start at the 18, 19, 20 age bracket. We find a chart with some notoriety, and we put it under the microscope of Profection and Firdaria (one Diurnal and one Nocturnal chart for each age bracket) to see what happened at one of these three significant years in their life. They can be anyone who is alive now, or a figure from history who has passed on, and I welcome any suggestions you might like to put forward for examination. Send me an email at the website address: atinyunivese_joy@outlook.com and I will appreciate any thoughts you may have on a suitable candidate.
Three conditions to any chart you might want to see in Part Two of The Firdaria Diaries.

So to finish the ages of 69, 70 and 71, let us proceed……
Profections: Moving Forward Through the Houses
69 years old : TENTH HOUSE
The tenth is the house of occupation, public life, and accountability and identification of one’s value within society’s ranks. This is not a house where we can hide, and any actions or attitudes we hold will be questioned, labelled and dissected in this house. This is the place for your ‘five minutes of fame’ and whilst we think we might crave celebrity status, there are many times when a person has gained notoriety for all the wrong reasons. Gained it, and immediately wished they could crawl under a rock to hide.
70 years old : ELEVENTH HOUSE
Your social groups may have changed greatly since you last visited this house twelve years ago. Our evolution as an adult means we often out-grown the friends, activities, conversations and behaviour of those with whom we spent our younger years and earlier decades.
Your closest friends may still remain, but they are described by the seventh house, not the eleventh, especially when the eleventh lies alongside your public status house. As we change jobs (and relationships) we connect and disconnect and although we have good intentions to ‘stay in touch’, a lack of time, opportunity, or shared experiences, means that sadly we often leave behind our eleventh house friendships.
71 years old : TWELFTH HOUSE
The last house in the chart is also the place where we spend the final year in a twelve year cycle. The profections match Jupiter’s return at each of the twelve year spots of 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 years of age. Next year will be a new beginning and so the year which precedes it, is one for letting go and making room for change.
It’s one of the reasons that the twelfth house is often useful for withdrawal and contemplation on where you sit in terms of personal growth. Sometimes we let our fears and anxieties get the better of us but it’s only a reminder of night terrors when we were children and when everything in the dark seemed frightening and unfamiliar.
The twelfth is a ‘dark’ house which receives no light from the Ascendant, and often there are varying shades of ‘darkness’ involved in this year. This can be a range of happenings which are totally unexpected and unplanned for, and although they can lead to your release from a commitment so you can move into a new life, there can be a sense of loss, abandonment or grief attached to the ‘how it happened’ rather than ‘why it happened’.

Profections Summary for 69: 70: 71 years of age
Firdaria: Time Portions Belonging to the Planets
There are some interesting changes for the last three years in both Firdaria models. The year in which you turn sixty nine is the final year of your circuit of the planets through the seven major Firdaria periods. For the day-timers this will be the close of the Mars Firdaria and Jupiter is the final planet to step up to the plate on your sixty ninth birthday. For night-time births the last year of the Mercury’s thirteen year term belongs to Venus and sixty nine sees the combination of Mercury and Venus serve as a sweet melody to the end of the sixth decade.

Daytime Births 69 – 71 years of age
DAYTIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday : 69 years
69 years
Short-term Lord Changes from SATURN to JUPITER
Major Long-term Lord: MARS (Years)
Minor Short-term Lord: JUPITER (Months)
Jupiter follows Saturn so celebrate this birthday if for the only reason of surviving a tough year with a planet that often measures life by the glass half empty philosophy. If Saturn has made you pull in your purse strings in the previous year, try not to go crazy with your money now just because Jupiter tells you there is plenty in the coffers.
Rather than spending up big, this year might be a good one to relook at the plans you tried to make two years ago when the Moon was your focus and see what changes you are willing to make now to improve your lot in life.
Jupiter can make good use of your skills and any opportunities that arise during this year might be worthy of a good hard look at how they can be brought into fruition on a practical level. A mentor, friend or associate might be able to introduce you to someone who can benefit or advance your plans but take care to look at all your options before making hasty decisions.
Alongside a year governed by Jupiter under Mars’ supervision is the fact that this is a tenth house year and this combination can provide the drive and optimism to re-assess your goals in life and decide how you want to keep contributing to the society and social structure in which you feel most invested.
Jupiter can advance your ambitions if you know what you are looking for and the right set of circumstances may involve transforming big plans into actualization. Make sure you have a realistic timeline and that you can maintain your enthusiasm once Mars finishes its Firdaria period next year.
Night Births 69 – 71 years of age
NIGHT BIRTH – Age at Birthday : 69 years
Major Long-term Lord: MERCURY (Years)
Minor Short-term Lord: VENUS (Months)
A tenth house focus for night-time births will be realized through the combination of Mercury and Venus. This is the perfect pair to get you out of the house and back into the community, especially if you are currently going through this age in 2020 and Covid-19 has forced you into the restraints of social isolation.
It is a good year for Mercury to make the best use of a socially active planet like Venus, so forming new friendships, especially with those of a similar mindset, is a great use of this year. Making plans for a future which has a good balance of leisure time combined with time to commit to others is an excellent way to use a tenth house year.
A nocturnal chart is driven by the Moon and this luminary puts a great deal of emphasis on feeling useful, fulfilled, happy, and motivated by looking after others and being in some form of voluntary service to their fellow man or woman. Whatever time and energy you can put into the community you will be rewarded within your own sense of self as Venus is looking for contentment and a sense of purposefulness that binds and connects it to other people. Hugs may be out right now but a smile on your face, polite and patient behaviour towards others, and a kind word are still very much available and necessary if Venus is going to feel good about getting through this year.

DAY AND NIGHT TIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 70 years
Major Lord: Years
NORTH NODE for 3 years
NO Short-term Lord
At the completion of the seven planetary periods for both Diurnal and Nocturnal charts, the Firdaria follows on for the next five years with a period which belongs to the Nodal axis. Three years for the North Node from the age of seventy to seventy three and two years for the South Node from seventy three to seventy five years of age.
To give true justice to the Nodal five year period of Firdaria, the natal chart must be examined in detail: which two planets rule both Nodes, their condition by essential dignity, sign, house placement and aspects to other planets. For this reason, the delineation for seventy and seventy one is brief and perhaps the greatest difference will be the change in house focus and the relevance of the lord of these two houses, especially if one or the other is also the ruler of one of the Nodes.
Turning age seventy will put you in an eleventh house focus year and groups, friendships, social activity and hopes and dreams for the future are the theme for this year. If the Nodal axis also happens to lie across the eleventh and fifth house axis then it is possible that you will be visited or contacted by people from your past and this may be the time to resolve old issues or to forgive or be forgiven for past hurts.

DAY AND NIGHT TIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 71 years
Major Lord: Years
NORTH NODE for 3 years
NO Short-term Lord
Turning age seventy one will change the emphasis from eleventh house to the last house in a chart, and perhaps one of the hardest to deal with in a rational, logical manner. Twelfth house shows our irrational fears, anxieties and the things which ‘imprison’ our minds and affects our opinions and our behaviour. A North Node year gives you the opportunity to release some of your demons – but be warned, they are not to be released on or vented about to others – rather, they are to be recognised, acknowledged as part of who we are, and then privately and with dignity, finally laid to rest.
This last twelve year cycle of Profections starts at age seventy two and this may likely be your last one where you have the vitality and mental acumen to enjoy life, once more starting again with your Firdaria at age seventy five. Don’t waste it on regret, bitterness and repressed rage – life is definitely too short to fritter away your time on these emotions. Good luck and good travels: the greatest adventure of all awaits you somewhere and sometime during this next cycle, or if not, then the one after!
