Current from 28th September 2019 to 13th October 2019
A new moon means that the moon and the sun have come together in the night sky to begin a new cycle. Astrologically, the two luminaries (and now I can capitalize them), that is, the Sun and Moon, met at five degrees of Libra on 28th September 2019. The Moon is fast moving and travels through the entire zodiac in 27 days. However, the Sun is moving too, and it takes a further two and a half days for the Moon to catch up with the Sun and start a new lunar cycle. Every month we have a new moon in a new sign, and every year we have a new moon beginning in each of the twelve zodiac signs. But, they are never the same because every other planet also keeps moving.
The New Moon chart is active for two weeks whilst the Moon is in its waxing phase. The chart shows new beginnings, and it shows the intent of an individual and their actions during this period. For this reason, any planet connected to the Sun and Moon is examined in detail in order to determine their impact on the fortnight in question.
For instance, the current New Moon period (28th September – 13th October) features four main themes. The degrees need to be either the same or very close for this to be a noticeable theme in the two week term.
Venus features because she is the ruler of Libra. Saturn is also important because it is the exalted ruler of Libra. Any planet in the same degree as the Sun and Moon (i.e. 5 Libra) is also a critical player in the time period.
Jupiter sextile Venus
This chart shows a big improvement for Venus and all she signifies: women, relationships, pleasure, a relaxed attitude to life, love and friendship, and generally feeling good about oneself. The previous two weeks were hard on Venus (//www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkPFpJTJ44M) but with assistance or advice from someone who might have been through similar circumstances, the future looks much brighter at the beginning of this cycle. Venus is in her favourite sign of Libra and any unpleasantness from the previous fortnight should clear up now provided you are willing to offer an olive branch to gain peace and harmony once more.
Jupiter square Neptune, Neptune quincunx Venus
Venus just needs to remember to ease down on the partying and slow down a little on the good times, otherwise it may have a negative impact on health or work commitments. If you are tempted to make a late night call to someone who has recently left your life, then it’s a really good idea to give your phone to a friend so you can’t act on the temptation. Otherwise, it’s likely to get messy or end in tears.
Saturn conjunct South Node
Saturn covers big topics like responsibility, commitment, accountability, restriction and separations. The South Node shows past actions and events, people from an earlier time in life, and generally a tough reminder that sometimes life is far from perfect. When these two are together in the same degree it generally signifies that something from the past has the ability to come back and bite you. We all have moments we are not particularly proud of where we took the short-cut and hoped it wouldn’t be noticed. Said something we shouldn’t have, helped ourselves to an advantage that wasn’t really ours to take, or blamed someone else for our own shortcomings. Make amends if you can and put it right. Apologise if you need to, but only if it’s genuine, as Saturn can tell the difference between insincerity and good actions, and a false apology will only make matters worse. Clean it up, and move on, and remember to do it better next time.
Uranus quincunx Sun and Moon
It looks as though change is in the air. This coming two weeks can be about preparation, getting excited about a new development, plan, job opportunity or love interest. Or it can be steadfastly resisting the urge to move forward. Again, it may be about letting go of an old relationship or an outworn pattern that no longer serves you. Whatever it is, clear the past – Saturn shows this – and get ready for something new as the Full Moon chart for 13th October 2019 has more information on these changes.
