In the system known as profecting the houses the first three years of your fifties will belong to the fourth, fifth and sixth houses. The first of these three houses begin at the base of your chart and this can bring a focus to family matters, a family business, family divisions over property, or the buying or selling of your own property. You may be moving an elderly parent or relative into new accommodation or you may be making some adjustments to your own property, even investment in a second house or leasing new premises during the first year into your fifties.
The link between your outward success and your inner sanctuary is very strong in the fourth house so although the tenth house of occupation and job opportunities is not directly featured, it often has a secondary impact on fourth house matters especially when you turn fifty one years of age.
Likewise, the year in which you turn fifty two is a fifth house year and this house is one concerned with creativity, social activities, and time spent in leisure and entertainment, so the year following your change of address may involve some lovely pursuits when you have the available cash and time to relax and spoil yourself. Alternatively, if money is now tight and the consequences of investing in a new property in the previous year has stretched the finances, the impact of less money for leisure pursuits is now starting to dawn on you. Children may be growing up now and you may need to take a different approach to them as a parent by adjusting your relationship so that both you and the new adult, nee child, can feel comfortable with the changes.
Fifty three is not so pleasant as the year before with work commitments, long hours and much effort for little return beginning to encroach on your spare time with these themes being featured in a sixth house year. Exhaustion, stress, illness and accidents through carelessness or lack of attention can also mar this year’s activities.

Profections: Moving Forward Through the Houses
51 years old : FOURTH HOUSE
The fourth house concerns the father, his relatives, and sometimes family in general. It is the home of your childhood, and it is the home you choose to build for yourself when you leave your childhood behind. The fourth house is directly in opposition to the tenth house, and often what happens in one, is reflected in the other.
Not only is this axis of fourth and tenth the parental axis, it is also the vertical line which marks the divide between private life and public life, and it describes the past (4th) as opposed to the future (10th). Sometimes a new opportunity in work or an advancement in our careers force us to leave home, relocate, or find new housemates, but the fourth house is much more than just bricks and mortar.
The house at the bottom of the chart represents our foundation, the rock upon which our lives are built and as we move into our fifties it’s still not too late to ponder on how we now define the concept of ‘home’, especially when it comes to something intrinsic within ourselves that we can hold on to through the tough times, and from where we can borrow from the past, and move with confidence into the future.
52 years old : FIFTH HOUSE
The fifth is the house of good fortune, of play and friends, creativity and leisure time, and depending on the planet which rules this year, fifty two can be an age when there is more spare cash and more time to spend on your own pleasures. The previous two returns to fifth house occurred when you were forty under the demands of a young family, or in total dedication to a career with no time to spare, or seized by a frenetic need to prove your creativity to the world. And before then, at age twenty eight, in the grip of your first Saturn Return when there was something to prove and fun seemed a desperate distraction rather than one of life’s necessities.
One significant point is worthy of mention during a fifth house year. If last year was a big career move for you, then this year can leave you feeling a bit lost or at loose ends as to why you made a move in the first place. Feeling disorientated is common for fifth house years as there is little to connect the signs of the fifth to the tenth house. This feeling may not be so obvious if there is an aspect between the rulers of these two houses, but you may be resenting the fact that your spare time is being consumed by work commitments.
53 years old : SIXTH HOUSE
If you can identify with the frustrations of juggling a frenetic work schedule with the time to wind down, finding the space to enjoy something creative that you passionately love, or having the energy to concentrate on your children’s growing needs and demands as they move into their own adult lives, then this year is unlikely to ease the tension.
Sixth house years are often about drudgery. Your work ethic should be noticeable by your management or supervisor at work, but you are going to wonder whether it is all worth the sacrifices you are making to maintain this pace for a continued amount of time, or if the younger versions of yourself will outpace you and leave you behind. Technology and new innovations may be starting to take your place and this may be a year when you need to reassess where you are going in your working life.
Sixth house years are also the reminder that we no longer have the strength, agility, speed and stamina of our earlier years so if you have been accustomed to ‘powering through’ a huge workload or ignoring the toll that stress is taking on your body, then it may all catch up with you in a sixth house year.
This is a year when the body can get worn down through poor eating habits, stressful deadlines, insufficient sleep, and in general, stress related illnesses that talk about attacks on nervous systems and constant niggling health worries that don’t seem to go away.
Fractures in bones and general wear and tear are reminders that you are no longer quick to heal, or as fast on your feet as you used to be. A sixth house year can range from small irritations such as fatigue or a cold that won’t shift to more worrying concerns, and the relationship between the ruler of your first house (good health) and the ruler of your sixth house (the destruction of your good health) is a significant concern during this year.

Profections Summary for 51: 52: 53 years of age
Firdaria: Time Portions Belonging to the Planets
The overview for these three years involves a new major long-term Firdaria lord for daytime charts in the form of Jupiter which will rule for the next twelve years. Generally speaking, Jupiter is a planet of good fortune so the upcoming dozen years should bring an easier time with lots of rewards if you are willing to look for them. Daytime births are for those born between the twelve hours when the sun has risen and before it sets, that is, approximately 6 am to 6 pm (no daylight saving).
For those born after the sun has set and before it rises in the east, Venus will continue to be their long-term Firdaria lord. Venus rules for a relatively short period of eight years and in the years from fifty one to fifty three, night-timers will experience three handovers in this term – Mercury will hand over to the Moon, Moon will hand over to Saturn, and Saturn will hand over to Jupiter.
Intrinsically Venus is a peace-keeper and dislikes constant change and upheaval, so whilst its eight year period would ideally indicate a period of stability and permanence, the constant change-over from one planet to the next is, in itself, unsettling and challenging for Venus (and consequently, for the chart’s owner). The six remaining planets have their own ideas about what should ‘Make Venus Happy’ but unfortunately Venus might prefer they do nothing, rather than take action on her behalf.

Daytime Births 51 – 53 years of age
DAYTIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday : 51 years
Major Lord: Years
JUPITER for 12 years – Start of New Long-term Period
Jupiter involves grand gestures, big hopes and dreams, expansion into new philosophies or ambitious projects, and an accumulation of harvests from previous years of diligence, prudence, and hard work. That’s if you have been following Saturn’s progress report over its eleven year period before Jupiter takes over at age fifty one. These next dozen years are for reaping benefits, guiding or mentoring others, acts of generosity towards your family members and the community in general, and by and large taking on a benefactor role across the various arenas of your life.
If, on the other hand, Saturn has decimated one of the structures and foundations in your life – career, home, family, relationship, financial, the list goes on for anything you thought held your life together and gave it meaning – then Jupiter’s period is going to be about taking a new direction and trying to piece back together your somewhat shattered life.
I deliberately choose the word ‘decimate’ here not in its modern form meaning to annihilate or destroy, but rather in its original historical meaning as a form of Roman military discipline. ‘Dece’, the Latin word for ten, refers to the disciplinary act of choosing every tenth man in a line-up to be executed by his own cohorts as a way of controlling the vast numbers of Roman soldiers on the move and far away from home. In this case, Saturn, has randomly chosen one specific area of your life (maybe about one-tenth of it) and set you on a course of self-sabotage or self-destruction through the avenue of your own insecurities, fears and inhibitions. You probably didn’t need much help, you pretty well did most of the work single-handed.
Jupiter will help you to rebuild provided you do so with honesty, humility and authenticity. Otherwise, it will bombard you with possibilities that can’t come to fruition, or overwhelm you with the size of the project which depresses you or freezes you with the fear of repeating your old mistakes. The choice really is, up to you.
Minor Lord: Months
JUPITER – Start of New Short-term Period of 20 months
In Firdaria the same planet which is the major lord always has the first shift for the initial short-term period. Jupiter has twenty months to offer its suggestions on where you might like to benefit from your earlier efforts, or cut your losses and take a philosophical viewpoint on why it’s such a great opportunity to start afresh and rebuild your life into something of which you can take pride in the future.
Truth of the matter is, it’s probably a little of both streams of thought as life is never as clear-cut as gloriously Good (nothing in my life needs improvement) verses Bad, Worse, and Worst (I have totally ruined my life and there’s nothing I can do about it).
By profection this is a fourth house year so Jupiter as both Firdaria term rulers is likely to be closely examining the axis of private life vs public life, past mistakes vs future possibilities, home vs career. How you choose to prioritize the importance of these three major oppositions is entirely up to you but others may be nudging you to make a decision before you are truly ready.

DAYTIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 52 years
Long-term Lord: JUPITER
Short-term Lord: JUPITER
You may need a little extra time for the spotlight to shift from fourth to fifth house emphasis so that you can appreciate what makes you happy, rather than listening to the clamour around you and jumping to a conclusion before time has allowed you to adapt to any changes that may be implemented by your choice.
52 years and 8 months
Short-term Lord Changes from JUPITER to MARS
Long-term Lord: JUPITER
NEW Short-term Lord: MARS
Mars will take over from Jupiter for the next twenty months and now things really start to accelerate with the change from ‘somewhat of a possibility’ to ‘the brakes have failed and we can’t stop this train’. The good news is that you are still in a fifth house year for the next four months and this house is traditionally a house known for its good luck, gifts and bounties. The bad news is that you will be moving into the sixth house in four months’ time.
But before you do, we need to discuss the relationship between these two planets to give you some idea of what you might expect from a Jupiter Firdaria with Mars in temporary control.
Last blog I gave you the scenario of a working bee to demonstrate how Firdaria works. In other words, limited time (years and months), an overseer (major Firdaria lord), specific jobs (the Firdaria lord’s expectations), and six participating volunteers who understand their place in the jobs’ list (the minor or short-term Firdaria lords). When Jupiter is the overseer the list of jobs is really its wish-list for an increase in Abundance, Wealth, Success, Knowledge, Ambition, Authority, Reflected Glory from the Children, Power in Politics. Jupiter is not specific in its directions on how each of its volunteers are going to achieve this pretty big wish-list, it’s really up to them to do it according to their own nature and abilities.
Unfortunately, Mars is the second planet in the line-up and either hasn’t been paying attention or can’t be bothered listening to Jupiter’s lofty instruction. Mars barrels in and just wants to know who it has to murder to get to the front of the line. Mars lacks tact and diplomacy (two of Jupiter’s most prized possessions) so any task you give to Mars will be done speedily but brutally, and any precious tool you lend it to do the job is likely to come back worse for wear, if not completely broken.
In other words, during its twenty month term Mars is likely to advance in some of these jobs, but it also makes enemies for Jupiter along the way. Through its competitive nature and desire to win at all costs Mars is personified as both arrogance and suspicion so any prizes won during its term may have to be forfeited to your enemy in the future. That doesn’t mean to say that progress can’t be made during Mars’ term but you are going to need to include others in your plans if you are going to hang on to your success. Otherwise your detractors are going to take great pleasure in dragging you back down the ladder when Mars has moved on and another less aware planet has taken its place.

DAYTIME BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 53 years
Long-term Lord: JUPITER
Short-term Lord: MARS
Mars is the short-term ruler for the entire year in which there is as sixth house emphasis. You risk making enemies amongst your fellow workers if Mars becomes too pushy or denies others the right to have their own opinions. The combination of an over-zealous Mars operating on behalf of Jupiter can achieve an enormous amount in a short period of time but this can come undone if you are pushing your limits too hard and not paying attention to the warning signs.
Accidents through haste or exhaustion can waylay Jupiter’s plans and if Mars is not checked and channelled into positive pursuits and realistic goals then frustration and rage can be the result. Lots of opportunity this year to take a deep breath and count to twenty before losing your cool.
At fifty three you should be wise enough to spot the pitfalls but as the sixth house is blind to your Ascendant, that is, the house of your actions, you may blunder through some situations with Mars at the helm, rather than taking the time to use Jupiter’s natural caution and prudence to proceed without creating bad blood or finding new adversaries who will delight in blocking your progress.

Night Births 51 – 53 years of age
NIGHT BIRTH – Age at Birthday : 51 years
Major Long-term Lord: VENUS (Years)
Minor Short-term Lord: MERCURY (Months)
Mercury began its short term period ten months ago just after you turned fifty. You should be feeling comfortable with the combination of Venus and Mercury by now and at the beginning of this year it may benefit you if you wish to commence a new business venture, especially if you intend to run it from your home quarters.
The internet opens up a whole new territory for Venus to explore through its significations of women, pleasure, spare time activities, a whole range of beauty interests and products, and social and relationship contacts, and what better planet than Mercury to start new ventures and find a market for its multifarious talents. Mercury has a nose for business and as the profected fourth house is an angular house, we are definitely open for business during the first four months of this year.
51 years and 4 months
Short-term Lord Changes from MERCURY to MOON
Long-term Lord: VENUS
NEW Short-term Lord: MOON
Just as Mercury was rolling up its sleeves to get stuck into business in the fourth house, the Moon bumps it to the curb and takes over as Venus’ third in line. The Moon is likely to bring the focus back to the family and as the fourth house is specifically father, or mother’s partner, there may be some family business that has to take the place of Mercury’s mercantile plans. Concerns over real estate may take your attention this year as you may be renovating a relative’s house to sell so they can downsize or the renovations may be for your own family home.
Venus is a planet that approves of anything which is aesthetically pleasing so the Moon will be happy to improve your surroundings, especially if you are feeling in service to someone you love, or you’re doing this because your heart is drawn to it.

NIGHT BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 52 years
Long-term Lord: VENUS
Short-term Lord: MOON
A new birthday and a new house interest finds you either focused on the affairs of your children (sometimes literally ‘their affairs’ when Venus is involved) or trying desperately to spend more quality time on yourself and either your creative pursuits or on your passion whatever that may be. If it’s about trying to balance working hours with leisure time, then the Moon will most likely be caught between a rock and a hard place, simply because it is not accustomed to taking time out for itself.
The Moon for a nocturnal person is very much geared towards sacrificing its own health or me-time for those it loves or those it feels compelled to help but Venus is gently persistent in putting one’s own needs first. It’s not exactly a battle between these two planets as they are both programmed towards finding a compromise but Venus will expect the Moon to attend to its own pleasures before looking out for others, and this notion does not always sit well for the Moon who layers guilt on you for being so selfish.
52 years and 5 months
Short-term Lord Changes from MOON to SATURN
Long-term Lord: VENUS
NEW Short-term Lord: SATURN
Five months into the year in which you turn fifty two, there is a change in sub-lord rulers from the Moon to Saturn. Venus’ sub-periods run for a mere fourteen months so it feels as though you have just gotten comfortable with one ‘volunteer’ and the next one steps forward with a completely different agenda. None could be more noticeable than the change of guard from the Moon to Saturn. This jarring from the gentle guiding hand of the Moon to the cold fist of Saturn can manifest in a change of heart on your part as to how your children are treating you at the current time. If you have been patient, loving and supportive up until now it may come as a rude shock to them if Saturn suddenly steps in and says ‘no more’.
Saturn may not tolerate your gentle reprimands or countless ‘second chances’ and you may find yourself metering out some Tough Love to those people who have been bending the rules. This applies to children, but as the fifth house also covers love interests you might be wanting to ask some curly questions like ‘Where is this going? Is this a casual thing or is it a relationship?
Saturn leans towards commitment and long-term eventualities so when it is representing Venus its job is to ask the hard questions and to not let up until it gets some solid answers. This may make or break a beautiful friendship and Venus will be very sad to see it go, but if you put Saturn in as your emissary then it will take the job seriously and weed out the time wasters.
***
NIGHT BIRTH – Age at Birthday: 53 years
Long-term Lord: VENUS
Short-term Lord: SATURN
Saturn still has seven months to serve as Venus’ representative when you turn fifty three. The movement from fifth house to sixth house emphasis makes this Firdaria combination a little bit harder as neither planet is particularly comfortable with the inherent issues in this house. It may indicate some problems with female co-workers and there can be some awkward moments if you have to reprimand someone whom you also consider to be your friend.
Venus is not very good at implementing boundaries and is more likely to want to look the other way to avoid unpleasantness. Saturn on the other hand is a stickler for the rules so HR may be called in to sort out some work tensions.
Any connection between the sixth house of poor health and Saturn, the planet that rules so much of the physical body, can be difficult and Saturn’s rulership of the skeletal system, the joints, the lungs and the skin may crop up during this year. As Venus is the major Firdaria ruler it may also produce concerns for the female members of your family, or if you are a woman yourself, the female parts of the body, i.e. breasts or reproductive system, so keep an eye out and act immediately if you have any concerns.

Short-term Lord Changes from SATURN to JUPITER
Long-term Lord: VENUS
NEW Short-term Lord: JUPITER
The changeover from Saturn to Jupiter can alleviate some tensions in the workforce or improve the health situation. Jupiter often represents either an expert or sound counsel or a third person who brings resolution to a difficulty. Perhaps things have smoothed over and there is no need to bring in another opinion or a negotiator.
Traditionally these two planets are the benefics so even though the sixth house is a tiresome place, the Firdaria lords are both good fellows and try not to complicate your life too much. Venus and Jupiter love a good time and excess is particularly Jupiter’s theme so perhaps a motto for the two of them would be ‘if you’re having fun, ramp it up and keep it going’. This excessiveness may not help your number of necessary sleeping hours to work effectively or improve your diet, sugar intake, or alcohol consumption, so take care to place some limits on these two crazy fun-loving planets before your body starts to complain, or someone else comments on the changes in your behaviour.
Another potential for Jupiter to represent Venus is a possible acceleration in your love life, and even if it is only a mild flirtation at work, you may need to think about how it affects your reputation or relationship with your other co-workers.
